From Tuesday-Friday, May 25-28, Efficiency Vermont energy efficiency specialist Paul Grenier will be visiting the area to do 60-90 minute in-person checks on site at local businesses that will conclude with recommendations for steps business owners can take to save energy and money. The visits will include:

  • A 360-degree view of where energy is being wasted

  • A prioritized list of objective recommendations to save energy

  • Information about financial incentives and rebates to minimize project costs

Grenier will conduct a top-to-bottom look at each business’s energy use (he recommends having heating and electric bills handy). He will inspect the systems that draw energy — lighting, heating and cooling systems, and any special equipment. He may also inspect a building’s level of insulation and air sealing. He can suggest improvements based on projected savings, cost-effectiveness, health and safety.

After the walk-through, Grenier will present clients with suggested top priorities based on what he finds and the business’s goals along with a clear, organized plan to follow.

These visits are being organized by the Waterbury Energy Plan Committee. If you’d like to have a free walk-through, email Duncan McDougall at duncan@clifonline.org to schedule.

Duncan McDougall is chair of Waterbury LEAP (Local Energy Action Partnership), a nonprofit organization that’s also Waterbury’s volunteer energy committee.
