Revitalizing Waterbury to host March business workshops

Feb. 17, 2023 | By Waterbury Roundabout

Revitalizing Waterbury will hold three workshops for local businesses in March led by members of the business community.

Each has a specific topic and focus: selling online, Instagram for businesses, and buying/selling a business.

Waterbury’s Economic Development Director Mark Pomilio, Jr. said that RW has wanted to offer workshops to local businesses for a long time. “I am excited that these three community members have stepped forward to offer our first workshop series of 2023,” he said.

The workshops are open to everyone and more will be offered throughout the year.

Details for the first three in March are:

March 8: Selling Online: Search Engine Marketing and Third Party Platforms will be led by Ed Rooney of Edgeworks Creative. It will cover search engine marketing (Google Ads) for attracting business to your website or physical store and selling on popular platforms like Amazon, Etsy, etc. Wednesday, March 8, at 4-5:30 p.m.

March 13: Instagram for Business will be led by Jenna Danyew, a freelance social media marketer covering best practices for promoting your business on Instagram. From concepts for developing strong content to the nuts and bolts of posting strategy and growth, this workshop is built to offer value to those news to the platform as well as those who have been managing their own accounts for years. Monday, March 13, at 4-5:30 p.m.

March 20: Handling the Purchase or Sale of a Business with Keith Roberts of Darby, Kolter & Roberts, LLP, will cover buying or selling a business. Learn the key steps in a purchase and sale transaction, the most important things to consider, and how to document it.  Come prepared to discuss questions with someone who has handled hundreds of these transactions. Monday, March 20, at 4-5:30 p.m.

Registration is $10 for RW business members, $25 for non-members. More information and links to register for the workshops are online at revitalizingwaterbury.org/business-resources.  Contact Pomilio with any questions at 802-793-6029 or email to mark@revitlaizingwaterbury.org.

RW is Waterbury’s community development nonprofit organization.
